Entrepreneur, former CEO, commercial strategist and operator.
Principal Consultant
I’ve spent much of my career building things, fixing things and occasionally asking why everyone in the room is pretending something obviously ridiculous makes sense.
I built Savage Cabbage from an initial £500 investment into a seven-figure business and became one of the early operators helping establish the UK CBD and cannabis industry.
That work went far beyond building a consumer brand.
I represented the industry in Westminster APPGs, worked alongside senior MPs and industry stakeholders, navigated rapidly changing regulation and policy, introduced an international brand into the UK, negotiated distribution, developed products and propositions, built teams and processes and worked with founders, investors and private family offices.
It gave me an unusual view of how businesses actually behave when commercial ambition, regulation, capital, people and pressure all collide.
My strength is seeing patterns other people miss.
I tend to find the thing underneath the thing: the commercial problem hiding behind the marketing problem, the people problem hiding behind the process problem, or the assumption everybody has accepted because nobody has thought to challenge it.
I ask questions. Quite a lot of them.
Then I simplify what is complicated until there is a practical way forward.
I hold an MA in Social Pedagogy from York St John University, focused on how people learn, develop and change.
That might sound slightly removed from commercial strategy. It isn’t.
Businesses are systems made of people. Strategy fails when people cannot understand it, believe in it or execute it.
That understanding informs how I approach leadership, organisational change, founder dynamics and teams.
Today I work directly with founders, C-suite teams, boards and investors on commercial strategy, leadership, brands, products, change and the difficult decisions that do not fit neatly into one consultancy category.
I’m not particularly interested in producing impressive-looking work that sits in a folder.
I’m interested in making the thing better.
