Cookie Policy
Even ponds have cookies. Here’s every one of ours.
The short version
One small cookie remembers your choice. Analytics only runs if you switch it on. Nothing on this site is used for advertising.
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as scripts that measure visits, are covered here too.
Necessary
These are needed for the site to work properly. They can’t be switched off.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
ff_consent | Fox & Frog | Remembers your cookie choice, when you made it and which version of this policy it relates to | 12 months |
Analytics: off unless you switch it on
These help us understand how the site is used: which pages are read, and how people find them. Both are optional and switched off until you choose. Before you consent, neither Google Analytics nor Ahrefs loads, sets cookies or sends any data. They only start after you choose “Accept all” or switch analytics on in Preferences.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes visitors | 2 years |
_ga_4EFD0P2ZW9 | Google Analytics 4 | Keeps session state for our GA4 property | 2 years |
| No cookies | Ahrefs Web Analytics | Counts visits and referrers without cookies. Ahrefs says it combines your IP address and browser details into a daily, salted hash and doesn’t store raw IP addresses. | Not applicable |
If you switch analytics off later, we delete the Google Analytics cookies we can reach and reload the page so neither tool keeps running.
Other things that load
- HubSpot sign-up form (The WTF Files page): the form loads from HubSpot so you can join The WTF Files. It doesn’t set HubSpot tracking cookies on this site, and you don’t need to accept analytics to subscribe. HubSpot records that the form loaded successfully. CAPTCHA (Google reCAPTCHA) is switched off for this form.
- Netlify: our host collects anonymous page-performance measurements. No cookies.
- Google Fonts: our typefaces load from Google, which receives your IP address. No cookies.
- Booking a call takes you to a Google Calendar page, where Google’s own cookie and privacy terms apply.
Change your choices
You can change your mind at any time. Use the lily pad in the corner of any page, the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer, or this button:
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
